JHL Skill Development
In the Jungle, the battles are fun and fierce.
To maximize development, players need opportunities to practice the skills they've learn in balanced game situations: in the Jungle, they have this opportunity under the guidance of former Professional hockey players.
Our athletes participate in evaluations and are drafted into one of four blended teams – Gorillas, Tigers, Cobras and Komodo Dragons. Games are played within the league, mitigating the risks of our athletes being over- or under-matched.
Based on a solid structure of learning and fun, the JHL was created to ensure games and tournaments align with our player development principles. Our focus is on fundamental skills, skill progression and individual & team tactics: in the Jungle, they have this opportunity with a dedicated, former Professional player throughout the season.
In the Jungle, producing as much speed as possible, while using the least amount of energy, can mean survival. On the ice, learning to skate, not just fast, but with power, stability, explosiveness and efficiency, is a game changer. Our in-house power skating coach and trainers at Hockez Edge will work with athletes to develop strength in their strides.
Animals invest a lot of time and energy into defending their territories, and they fight vigorously to protect at all cost. Defending a territory is not easy, which is why the JHL offers dedicated in-house sessions with former Professional goalies for our netminders to learn and practice movement, positional skills, tactics and transitions.
